Welsh Premiership Team of the Year 2018-19

There have been some great games this season in the League. Merthyr RFC, Cardiff RFC, Llandovery RFC, and Pontypridd RFC have all been very competitive in a keenly contested season but the team who came out on top was Merthyr RFC who get our congratulations on their third league title win.

Y Ddraig has in conjunction with our good friend, Ioan Dyer and a few others have put together a combined team of the year based on individual performances in the League. We have omitted those players who dropped from the regional game in sporadic appearances and based on those players who have played a number of games at this level. There are some individuals who have shown some real potential and will be interesting next season to see if any play at regional level on a regular basis.

Welsh Premiership Team of the Year

15. Ed Howley (Cardiff RFC)

13. Alex Knott (Pontypridd RFC)

12. Ben Thomas (Cardiff RFC)

11. Dale Stuckey (Pontypridd RFC)

10. Gareth Thompson (Cardiff RFC)

9. Martin Roberts (Cardiff RFC)

1. James Howe (Merthyr RFC)

2. Joey Tomlinson (Cardiff RFC)

3. Sam Wainwright (RGC 1404)

5. Craig Locke (Merthyr RFC)

6. Cameron Regan (Ebbw Vale RFC)

8. Morgan Allen (Cardiff RFC)

7. Rhys Shellard (Pontypridd RFC)

A number of players are unfortunate not to make the final fifteen such as Matthew Jarvis, Arron Pinches, Callum Carson, Kyle Evans, Alex Webber, Rhys Downes, Llyr Green, Phil Rees, and Alun Lawrence just to name a few. Some tough decisions.

Do you agree/disagree with the final side? Please let us know.
