This season at the VSM Stadium Bangor City fans has been treated to a new breed of attacking football long missed at the ground. However, plaudits should also be hailed at the man between the sticks; Matthew Hall.
Purple patches in football are what players dream for, and for the young goalkeeper, he’s been experiencing one ever since he adorned the City kit. Having been brought in this summer as a back up for Connor Roberts he has stunned fans in his performances, earning him the main spot between the posts.
Having been cover ‘keeper for Tony Pulis’ West Brom side during the 2015/2016 season, Matthew Hall is a highly regarded youth player with bags of talent. This season has seen him make 17 appearances for City, winning 9 losing 5 and drawing 3. Within 7 of those matches he managed to keep a clean sheet, and in no game has he conceded more than 2 goals.
However the statistics don’t quite give justice to the season Hall is having, his agility coupled with quick reaction times make him a superb shot-stopper. Not afraid to come out for crosses and command his area, Matthew Hall is truly an all-around great shot-stopper. Many of his performances this season have meant Bangor walk away with the points, with countless goals being denied by his hands.
For Citizens, he has been a superb asset this season and put in some class performances. Quickly becoming a fan favourite with his outlandish saves and composure. The youngster will definitely go far within his career, his talent and skill are clear to see.
