This coming Saturday, Andrew Selby will face tough, hard-hitting Mexican opponent in Maximino Flores in York Hall, London. The fight is a final eliminator for the WBC World Featherweight Title, which is currently held by Daigo Higa from Japan.
For the unbeaten Welshman Selby, this will be his tenth professional fight, whilst Flores has a lot more experience in the professional ring. Saturday will be his twenty-fourth fight, and he has stopped sixteen of his opponents and has lost three times, with his last loss being against Milan Melindo, who went on to become a World Champion at Light Flyweight.
In Selby’s last outing he suffered a first-round knockdown against Cristofer Rosales, before winning on points comfortably, but against Flores can ill avoid a similar type of start as Flores has shown he can stop fighters when gets the chance. I expect Selby to start cautiously and use his superior boxing skills from the outset.
I expect the challenge Flores provides Selby to be his toughest test yet, but I fully expect Selby to come out on top and continue onto his next outing to be a shot at a World Title which he craves so much. Selby to win comfortably on points.
